Gratitude for Motherhood
I had a wonderful Mother’s Day weekend! My AMAZING husband let me sleep in on Saturday, and when I woke up he and the kids had worked together to clean up the whole house. Junk piles cleared, carpets vaccumed, toys picked up, dishes dealt with… it was a fantastic way to start the weekend.
Saturday evening my once again AMAZING husband watched the kids so I could go and spend some time with my own Momma. She and I went to the mall, browsed through Willams-Sonoma, Macy’s Kitchen section, and Pottery Barn. We ended the night with a delicious, but very LOUD dinner at the Yard House because the Laker Game was on. It was a lot of FUN!
On Sunday we had church time together as a family at home because two of my kids are sick with ear infections and I didn’t want to take the risk of exposing other kids in Sunday school to the infection. In the afternoon we had a wonderful time celebrating Mother’s Day with Nana and Papa, my husband’s 100 year old Grandmother, and other relatives. We visited together late into the evening watching home movies, eating chocolate covered strawberries, coloring with the kids, laughing at all the funny things the kids said and did, and talking, and talking, and talking, and enjoying each other’s company.
Having a wonderful Mother of my own is such a gift, and being a Mother is an enjoyably life altering miracle.
I have so much to be thankful for!
And this week I am focused on thanking the Lord TREMENDOUSLY for Motherhood and for…
40. a life given to me by a Mother who sacrificed so much to put me first
41. a dear friendship with my Mother that has been and remains an anchor in my life
42. a husband who loves being a Father to his children so much that I am made a better Mom by the example that he sets
43. a husband who is not above diapering, feeding, cleaning, playing with and entertaining our children so I can have moments of tending to other relationships and activities… including at times… simply much needed rest
44. healthy, beautiful, talented children that are remarkable miracles
45. a son who introduced me to being a Mother and made me sure that I had come into my true calling
46. a daughter who is like looking back at footage of who I was during times I can’t remember and who says the funniest things
47. a son who is still a baby and crawls up in my arms for cuddles and fills the empty space this year’s loss has left
48. a Mother-in-law who’s gentle love and kindness demonstrate the most beautiful picture daily of what it is to be a sweet blessing to a family
49. Mothering friends in life and online, each with special gifts, and inspiring energy, who unknowingly encourage me in my journey, by simply being themselves, AMAZING mothers
Thank you Lord

Great list! Happy mother’s day!
Thank you forposting this remarkable Mothers Day weekend you had. I truly enjoyed reading it. I agree that there are some amazing mothers out there.
Awww, nice Motherhood post. I know exactly what you mean about your husband – my husband makes me a better mother, too. I think it sort of goes both ways (or hopefully he’d say that, ha!).
