Wonderfully, Purposefully, Individually Made

I am so fascinated by snowflakes.

It is believed that there are no two snowflakes that are exactly alike.

Snowflakes always have six arms.

In the case of a twelve armed snowflake like this, it is actually two separate six armed flakes that have fused together.

They are each so unique, so breathtakingly beautiful, so intricate, so detailed.

It’s such a shame when you realize that most of them will go completely unnoticed.

They will fall from the sky, land on a windshield, be swept to the ground, crunched beneath the boot of a passer by, and melt as they lay in a muddy puddle under the sun.

They are confoundedly beautiful for being so apparently disposable and unappreciated.

Many will fall in fields and on mountain tops where no human or creature will ever set foot to appreciate their beauty.

Who is the master craftsman behind these beautiful, unimportant, crystalized bits of water?

Why not just make them all the same?  Better yet, why not just forget the details altogether and simply create small clumps of snow like sleet that fall from the sky?

Science continues to reveal fantastic mysteries as to the how of creation, but the answers to why still often lay with God alone.

As you look out over a field of snow, or down a snow covered mountain, it’s hard to believe that each and every tiny little piece of it could be covered with individually unique snowflakes… no two being completely the same.

I never get tired of seeing a new one. They are just so beautiful.

Snowflakes remind me of God’s creative hand in this world. That there really is so much to stop and consider and appreciate. So much beauty, so many details, so much wonder that surrounds us.

There are fascinating scientific laws which can explain how these tiny masterpieces are formed, but who can explain the creation and exhistance of those laws? Who can explain what purpose those laws serve, why they exist, and why these flakes are so beautiful. Perhaps the purpose for their existance is for no other reason than to mystify, delight, and remind each of us…

That if we take the time to slow down and look closely at things, God’s mysteries, beauty, and truth really can be revealed to us.

That we too were wonderfully, purposefully, and individually made.

That though we may feel lost in a sea of others just like us, the truth is that each of us is unique, and each of us contain an individual design that testifies of our Glorious, Meticulous, Creator.

I am reminded that God took the time to meticulously design me and though science has made it clear how I got here, only God can explain the why. And the only way I’ll begin to understand why He spent so much time designing me, and for what purpose, is to ask HIM. To be still. To listen. To seek Him.

It is God alone who can teach each of us how to fulfill the purposes for which we were made.

…Seek the LORD your God, and you will find Him if you search for Him with all your heart and all your soul. When you are in distress and all these things have come upon you, in the latter days you will return to the LORD your God and listen to His voice. For the LORD your God is a compassionate God; He will not fail you… – Deuteronomy 4:29 – 31 NASB
